For my second presentation I feel i did better in some ways and worse in others.
I did better becasue I had a better question.
Worse because I was really fidgitey and I wasent prepaired.

I read the article "Speaking their digital language" by David Warlick and i made some connections with it.
Not my mom but my aunt asked me to help her make a myspace and I thought it was pretty weird when she asked me to make her one. When she learned the "Internet slang" (lol,jk,rofl, brb, afk, ect.) she was fascinated that the Internet had created its own language
I think that parents should NOT make myspaces or facebooks, instead have there kid show them what it is so patents don't constantly wonder exactly what it is, but if every adult made one that would get pretty annoying. Beause it is a TEEN social website
This past week I had a parent stop me in the hallway. They wanted to thank me for the presentation I gave to parents during conferences called “A guide to your digital child.” As part of the presentation, I tell parents to go home sit down with their high schooler and have their child help them start a Facebook page and then let them teach you how it works.

I read the article "Motivational Monday: Laugh a Little Will Ya?" by Cool Cat Teacher Blog.
I was browsing threw post looking for a good one to wright about when a few key words caught my eye.
I asked myself the same question, its rare I find myself not worrying about home work or chores or other everyday concerns.
To many times I'll be enjoying time with some friends weather it be skateboarding or just hanging out when a similar thoughts comes into mind... "I have home work, I need to raise my grade in history, did I do my chores?" When I look back on a day and I notice there was a point in that day were i had no worries and i was living life "in the moment."

"Let me ask you this... How often do you just laugh and be in the moment? So many times the problems we worry about never come to pass. Now, I the list-making Mama would never tell you not to plan, however, I find that I stress myself out way too much."

I read the post Truth by Cool Cat Teacher Blog.
There is nothing really to agree or disagree with, but this post moved me.
I was completely flabbergasted at the video above... you should take a look!
This post talks about students (mainly in collage) and how much work, and recreational activities they have and how much time it takes. and how they are spending their time in class.
I personally have found myself on you tube, Google videos during a class where I had access to a computer instead of doing what the class was doing as well as staying up late doing school work.

I read the article "Today's teen an ace volunteer"by The Denver Post
A powerful quote by the Denver post.
In this a article I read teens from Silver Creek High school do their part helping areas suffering from poverty.
Their alleged "loud music" was actually used to raise money in concerts to buy clean water for those areas that suffer from poverty.
I think it is important for teens to help in the community in various ways. It could even earn a new reputation for the current stereotyping of teens
"Can you believe these kids today, with their loud music and baggy clothes,
their newfangled text messaging and their MySpace and their YouTube, they're
just so ... dang ...
Helpful? "

I read the post "What parents need to know about Xbox Live" by Cool Cat Teacher Blog.
The post talks about xbox live risk factors of online gaming can be more harmful than ricks in myspace or facebook. I personally can relate to this because not only I but my brother and father have separate xbox live accounts. While in the middle of a game a teammate and a total stranger asked for my number so we could verse each other in person. I was a little freaked out because i had no clue if he was a teenager such as myself or an adult.
I think it is important for parents, with children of any age, using Internet for recreational uses too keep and eye on what their children are viewing and who they are talking to

I read the post "Parents & Internet-Using Teens" by Dave Warlick.
This article talks about parents being more observant of their children's media usage.
Not so much the time spent with it but rather what their child is viewing.
I personally can relate to this because my parents keep information of what websites i visit, what T.V. channels i watch and when i watch them, and ratings and content of video games and DVDs. But do not keep much information on my time spent with these devices.
I think parents are too concerned with what their doing than how long there doing it and I fell that it should be more balanced.

I read the article "State pushes teens to buckle up more" by The Denver Post.
This article talks about a couple teens who were in a car accident. luckily they buckled up and were not seriously injured when tumbling off a 30 ft. ledge.
There school along with 10 others launched a "click it or ticket" campaign were the schools had to get 400 signatures of students committing to buckling up and they received a wrist band in memory of the 71 teenagers who died in auto accidents.
I this that this is a good campaign to have because it teaches that even if your not under the influence your still susceptible to the dangers of a car accident.

I read the article"Broncos' Marshall arrested in DUI" by The Denver Post.
Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall was caught driving drunk Monday morning.
As punishment for this DUI Marshall will have to pay at least $10,000.
I personally do not feel this is a proper punishment. Being that he is a professional athlete he is very wealthy and a mear $10,000 is not much too him. I thisnk that inaddition to paying a fine he should be suspended for the remainder of the season.

I read an atricle from the denver news about a man accused of stabbing another man to death.
Landon Chavez, a man in his late twenties, was accused of stabbing Ricky Ortega untill he was dead. It is said that their was a fight in denver that sparked this murder.
Landon's trial will be this thursday and he will have no chance of bail and if found guilty will serve sevral years in prison.
I personally feel this is a good punishment because its not inhumain and there is a very slim chance that Landon will murder another person.

I read the article "Man arrested in Aurora in fatal shooting overnight" by The Denver Post.
Early Sunday morning there was a 911 call to report a shooting in Aurora.
It was said both victim and suspect were staying at the same hotel and the victim was found dead with a gunshot wound to upper body.
Although no motive has been determined I personally believe that there was a small argument between the two men and smaller men like to think their big and tough by carrying around a gun and I believe this is one of those cases.

The victims nor the suspects names have been found out for sure

I read te blog"Is Payment for Good Grades Legitimate Motivation in This Day and Age?" by Think:Lab. I personally think that it is. My parents give me money for good grades and it definatly modavates me to try harder in school. In addition to makeing my give tem money for bad rades such as D's or F's. In my mind perents arent bribing teir kids but rather teachign them a lesson like if you try hard in school you will get a better job and ultimatly get a better job and succcedde in life. Althought alot of parents say that reguardless if they pay their kids for graes or not it is true. But most kids have "instant gratifacation" which means if they did somethig good they want to be rewaeded for it instantly, not in a long time. So parents who pay their kids for good grades sove that instant gratifacation.
This matters to me bacause I personally understad how much it modivates me to do above and beyond in school. This relates to the world because I know alot of people who's parents give them anywere from $5 for an A to $20 for an A.

In the blog "Online Safety - Videos that get ‘em" by Jeff utecht, he talks about how teaching Internet safety is a good idea, it probably isn't as effective if they are like a mother breathing down their thought. I would have to say I defiantly agree with this.
It is very important to educate students about Internet safety so they don't fall victim to online predators or online bullying. Being a student and a teenager I personally know I will respond better if the teacher or adult is not in my face and speaking at me instead of too me.

I read an article called "Classrooms For The Future" by David Warlick and i have to say i agree with him. Classrooms should have all the technology he stated such as
one laptop per student desk (cart of 25)
a teacher laptop
a printer/scanner
imaging software
productivity software
a web cam
an electronic whiteboard
a projector
up to three digital still cameras (per eligible school)
up to five digital video cameras (per eligible school)
Infrastructure (wireless network, servers)
technical support
This maters because we have all this technology at our fingertips so why not use it in the classrooms.
in my opinion education would increase a lot.
